Harris Helps: Celebrating Pride by Supporting LGBTQIA+ Charities Across Ireland 🌈

Throughout June, as part of our Pride Month initiative, Harris Helps proudly supported organisations across Ireland working to uplift, protect, and empower LGBTQIA+ communities. Each week, we made a donation to a different charity making a real difference — because support should last far beyond Pride Month.

Here’s who we supported:

The Rainbow Project

Based in Belfast and Derry, with outreach into Donegal, Cavan, and Monaghan, The Rainbow Project is Northern Ireland’s largest LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing organisation. They provide vital services like mental health and counselling, sexual health education, HIV testing, youth and trans peer support, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights. Their work helps people feel seen, supported, and empowered every day.

LINQ Ireland

With nearly 30 years of community work rooted in Cork, LINQ Ireland supports lesbian, bisexual, and queer women — including trans and non-binary people — across Ireland. LINQ offers wellness activities, peer support, parent groups, social events, and advocates for social policy change to ensure LBQ women and their families can live openly and safely.

OutWest

Founded in 1997, OutWest is a voluntary group supporting LGBT+ people in Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Galway, and Leitrim. OutWest offers social support, peer groups, advocacy, and events like quiz nights and workshops, alongside a welcoming Drop-In Centre in Castlebar. Entirely volunteer-run, they work tirelessly to build community and fight for equality in the West of Ireland.

Midlands LGBT+ Project

Launched in 2021, Midlands LGBT+ Project provides safe, welcoming spaces for LGBT+ adults across Laois, Kildare, Offaly, and Westmeath. They host social meet-ups, peer support groups, Pride events, and offer support for parents of LGBT+ young people, as well as diversity training for schools and businesses to build a more inclusive Ireland.

Real Support, Real Change

These organisations remind us that Pride is about more than celebration — it’s about creating lasting change, safe spaces, and a sense of belonging for LGBTQIA+ people year-round.
