Domino’s, the nation’s best-loved pizza, is celebrating 20 years of partnership with Barretstown in 2024. Over the last two decades, Domino’s has raised funds and support for the Irish children’s charity and this year announces plans to extend the partnership by an additional three years.
Since 2004, Domino’s has raised over €520,000 in support of Barretstown, enabling 258 campers to participate in transformative seven-day camps. Domino’s franchisee teams have also hosted 56 unforgettable pizza making days at camp, where they bring fresh ingredients and a mobile pizza oven on site, helping to create magical memories for over 7,000 campers. Over the next three years, Domino’s pledges to raise a further €250,000.
Domino’s Managing Director for Ireland, Annelie McCaffrey and CEO of Barretstown, Dee Ahearn, were on hand to mark the 20th anniversary in Barretstown, where Annelie presented the charity’s CEO with a bespoke Pizza Platter. The platter is a special take on the traditional china gift for 20th anniversaries, and features a bespoke commission from Irish artist, Katy Halpin, illustrating the iconic Domino’s store front.
Domino’s incredible customers also get involved in supporting Barretstown – rounding-up on their pizza orders via Pennies – the micro-donation charity and fund-raising partner of Domino’s. Over the years, Domino’s has raised additional funds for Barretstown through a recurring annual donation, the three-year sponsorship of the Amazing Race, Domino’s team days at camp, dedicated meal deals on Domino’s menus nationwide and other, individual initiatives from store teams, such as triathlons and cycle challenges.
Barretstown offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families living with cancer and other serious illnesses – supported behind the scenes by 24-hour on site medical and nursing care. Learn more about how these life-changing programmes can help your family.
Managing Director for Domino’s Ireland, Annelie McCaffrey says, “It is a privilege for our teams at Domino’s to raise much needed funds and awareness for Barretstown and I’m thrilled to celebrate this remarkable milestone of 20 years. We have raised a remarkable amount of money to date for Barretstown, with a record fundraising effort last year but we don’t plan on slowing down. This partnership is one of a long-standing commitment and one we are particularly proud of. Our store teams enjoy pizza making day at camp, almost as much as the campers themselves, and we feel a strong connection to the wonderful memories delivered by Barretstown. We hope customers and communities across Ireland will join us as we pledge to support Barretstown for a further three years and we look forward to continuing to make a small difference and a big impact.”
Chief Executive Officer of Barretstown, Dee Ahearn says: “At Barretstown our mission is to support as many children as possible who are affected by cancer and other serious illnesses. To date we have served over 100,000 campers, and all of this has been made possible by the unwavering support of generous individuals and our fantastic corporate partners like Domino’s. We are delighted to celebrate this milestone with Domino’s who have shown incredible commitment over the last two decades of our partnership, both through raising an impressive amount of money and also through getting directly involved with the annual pizza making workshops which are so loved by our campers. On behalf of Barretstown we are delighted that Domino’s has renewed their partnership with us for a further three years and we look forward to working closely with all the team to support as many children and families as possible to rebuild their lives after a serious illness”.
