Inspiring Tales of Triumph: Ireland’s Top Pets Celebrated at Petmania Ruby Heart Awards 2025

Ten remarkable pets and the people who love and support them were honoured this week at the Petmania Ruby Heart Awards 2025, a national celebration of the unique bond between humans and animals. Held on Wednesday, 11 June at Sullivans Tap Room in Kilkenny, and hosted by broadcaster and animal welfare advocate Fionnuala Moran, the inaugural event brought together stories of survival, support, and unwavering companionship from across Ireland.
Created to recognise the everyday heroes of the animal world whether four-legged, two-legged, or behind the scenes the Ruby Heart Awards highlighted the vital role pets play in our lives and the importance of those who care for them. With over 750 heartfelt nominations submitted from across the country, the final ten winners were chosen through a mix of public vote and independent judging.
Each winner was presented with a Petmania Ruby Heart trophy, celebrating not just their story, but their lasting impact on the lives around them.

“Winning this award reaffirms that our work is appreciated by the animal-loving community we serve,” said Olivia O’Reilly of Galway Cat Rescue. “It’s a shared win for every volunteer and rescue group in Galway working together for a common cause.”
Emily Miller, Sales & Marketing Manager at Petmania, commented:
“The stories we’ve honoured are not just touching—they’re transformative. These pets have changed lives, brought healing, and reminded us of the strength in kindness and connection. We are deeply proud to share their stories and the work being done in communities around the country, to honour them with the Petmania Ruby Heart.”
The Petmania Ruby Heart Awards highlighted not only the incredible animals and individuals at the heart of each story, but also the community of compassion that surrounds them. From a school therapy dog to a three-legged rescue survivor, each winner is a symbol of resilience and love.
This year’s awards mark the beginning of what Petmania hopes will become an enduring tradition a platform to champion animal welfare, celebrate everyday heroes, and inspire a deeper appreciation for the pets who shape our lives.
