The Brief

Lidl Ireland set out to spotlight its premium Deluxe Christmas range in a way that would challenge long held perceptions around the traditional Christmas dinner.

At a time when Irish households are balancing tradition with a growing desire for quality, value, and creativity, Feast by Lidl was shaped as a way to move the brand beyond the aisle and bring its products centre-stage in an immersive experience, reminiscent of Lidl’s Vino Sensoria pop-up event in 2024.

The Idea

To showcase the Deluxe range in a tangible, creative way, Lidl created Feast by Lidl, a fully immersive Michelin-star worthy pop-up restaurant, held at The Chocolate Factory in Dublin city centre.

Curated by Michelin-starred chef Oliver Dunne, the dining experience invited guests to choose between two imaginative tasting menus (Naughty or Nice) each re-imagining traditional festive dishes through modern culinary techniques, seasonal Irish ingredients, and unexpected flavour pairings.

Menus showcased the breadth of Lidl’s award-winning Deluxe range, from Irish duck and free-range turkey to Irish seafood, artisan pâté, seasonal vegetables, and signature festive desserts. Diners were encouraged to explore nostalgic flavours in new ways, deepening their connection to Irish food and craft producers.

Feast by Lidl was designed not only to elevate the brand but to reflect Lidl’s consumer research, conducted by Harris PR, which revealed shifting attitudes toward festive cooking, appetite for experimentation, and a growing desire for quality at value.

The pop-up became a live, press-worthy expression of these insights, showing Ireland’s evolving Christmas tastes in real time.

The Results

The Feast by Lidl experience sold out, welcoming more than 500 diners across the three-day event and generating significant interest around Lidl’s Deluxe Christmas range, with an extra date added due to the buzz created by initial coverage.

Diners responded enthusiastically to the quality and creativity showcased throughout the Naughty and Nice menus, expressing increased interest in experimenting with their own festive cooking, and in choosing Lidl as part of their Christmas shop.

Over 50 media attendees engaged positively with the experiential approach, helping reinforce Lidl’s positioning as a brand that champions Irish suppliers, elevates festive dining, and delivers premium quality at unbeatable value.
