A new study by Holland & Barrett shows Ireland is stuck in a cycle of reacting to health issues rather than preventing them.
- 70% only listen to their body when something feels wrong
- 57% take action only after issues arise
- 80% visit the doctor only when absolutely necessary
The biggest barriers are fatigue, lack of time, and low motivation, with many also feeling overwhelmed by too much health advice. Nearly half (44%) say they don’t know what their body actually needs.
“Back Your Body” Campaign
In response, Holland & Barrett has launched the “Back Your Body” campaign to encourage a more proactive approach to health.
- Up to 25,600 free Wellness Check-Ins per month
- 15-minute sessions with trained Wellness Champions
- Personalised advice on sleep, stress, energy, gut health, and immunity
Supported by Ellen Keane and Sharlene Mawdsley, the campaign aims to help people take simple steps to stay well—before problems arises
