Visit Roscommon have this week unveiled their enchanting Christmas Festival, encouraging visitors to discover all the county has to offer this Christmas. From December 9th-10th, the annual Roscommon Christmas Festival, presented by the Roscommon Town Team, Roscommon Leader Partnership, Roscommon Chamber, and supported by Roscommon County Council, will delight visitors with its festive ambiance and a wide range of exciting events.
This years festival is packed full of Christmas joy and festive events for all the family to get involved with. Some of the highlights from this years Roscommon Christmas Festival will include:
An Enchanted Christmas Trail at Loughnaneane Park, Roscommon 9th & 10th December
Loughnaneane Park will shine bright with an enchanting display of lights and Christmas characters, alongside nightly performances from Enchanted Croí Theatre in an all-new theatre production, “The Night the Toys Sparkled”. The park will be transformed into a mesmerising winter wonderland with twinkling lights and Christmas scenes creating a truly magical ambiance. Discover a picturesque pond surrounded by a sculpture trail that offers breathtaking views of the historic landscape. Entrance to the park is available from 5.30pm – 8pm each night.
Bustling Markets in Roscommon Town Square
The heart of the festival beats in Roscommon Town Square, where over 40 market stalls will showcase a delightful array of goods and products. From beautifully crafted items to locally sourced produce and tempting festive treats, there’s something to satisfy every taste. The market will also feature live entertainment, including carols, dance acts, street performances, and a captivating dinosaur display, and of course, the iconic Santa’s Grotto – a vibrant and joyous experience for all.
Get ready for a mouth-watering Christmas culinary experience and discover delightful festive recipes from award-winning TV Chef Sham on Sunday, 10th December, at 2pm in the Roscommon Town Square in an exclusive cooking demonstration.
Grand Finale: A Spectacular Fireworks Display
As the festival draws to a close, Sunday evening will culminate in a breathtaking firework display behind the castle. Be prepared to be mesmerized by vibrant colours and sparkling lights illuminating the sky, leaving visitors filled with the spirit of the season.
Santa’s Grotto is back at the Harrison Centre in Roscommon Town on December 8th–10th, 15th–17th, and 22nd–23rd, along with a wonderful Christmas Market featuring local vendors and festive treats. There is a new online booking system to make visits magical, with all proceeds donated to Roscommon Cancer Support Service in Vita House Family Centre.
Strokestown Christmas is taking place on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th December from 4pm-8pm on the grounds of Strokestown Park House. It will be an excellent weekend with face-painting, Christmas carols, games and much more entertainment to enjoy. A vast array of goods offering Christmas decorations, knitted goods, toys, candles, jewellery, ornaments and much more to fill Christmas stockings! For the foodies a selection of pizzas, crepes and hot delights will be available and not forgetting those with a sweet tooth: cookies, toasted marshmallows, candyfloss, cakes and preserves, to mention just a few delights.
Step into the transformed Strokestown House and embark on a magical festive adventure through the Palladian Mansion. The meticulously decorated mansion sets the stage for a truly immersive experience, celebrating the wonder and joy of Christmas. Let Strokestown House ignite imaginations and create cherished memories for all the family, from Saturday, 25th November.
Arigna Mining Experience Santa Underground
Prepare for a unique and unforgettable journey as Arigna Mining Experience is transformed into a festive wonderland from Saturday, 2nd December. Santa’s visit to the mining experience provides an exciting and fun-filled event for the whole family.
